LOCTITE 55 Wins Two Prestigious Red Dot Awards in 2025
LOCTITE 55 pipe sealant has received two prestigious awards at the Red Dot Awards, with the wins being celebrated at the Red Dot Museum in Essen, Germany on July 8, 2025. Henkel has received awards for best “Sustainable Design” and best “Product Design” – a big win for Henkel Ireland and a showcase of their innovative spirit. The Red Dot Design Museum in Essen is currently displaying LOCTITE 55 as part of an exhibition until May 2026.
LOCTITE 55’s Innovative Packaging
The new design of LOCTITE 55’s packaging was released in 2024. It was designed with the aim of maximizing user experience through innovative packaging whilst meeting sustainability guidelines. To do this, user research was conducted to identify customer needs. This identified that there was a need to make the packaging more robust as well as prolonging the usable yield of the thread.
In addition to this, the new packaging is comprised of a single material: 70% post-consumer recycled polypropylene. This is a material which is robust enough to withstand rough environments and one which is compliant with Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR) sustainability guidelines for 2040. It is a testament to Henkel’s ability to innovate, remain customer-centric, and enhance the sustainability of products.
The Red Dot Awards are proof of the strong innovations coming out of Henkel Ireland, as well as a testament to the collaboration efforts which makes such achievements possible both within Henkel and in collaboration with agencies such as Dolmen. It showcases the drive for better product innovation, meeting customer needs, and commitment to sustainability.
About LOCTITE 55
LOCTITE 55 is utilised by plumbers and professional fitters to seal pipe threads and fittings comprised of plastic and metal. It can seal hot and cold water, hydrogen gas, natural gas as well as other materials found in plumbing systems. It is a preferred choice for sealing plastic and metal threaded joints, with no need for waiting for curing; resulting in immediate sealing results. LOCTITE 55 flexibly adapts to align measuring devices and fittings with no risk of leaks or tears. In 2024, Henkel’s 160m new package launch improved functionality for an easier, more hassle-free experience.
