“The most rewarding way to give back to our community is to donate our time,” said Gowri Narsimhamurthy, one of the Henkel employees who coordinated the outreach project. “Our Week of Volunteering activities help to reinvigorate the concept of volunteering through time and actions – rather than donating items or money. The initiative provides a memorable experience for employees and local community members alike.”

Henkel demonstrates caring for the community
More than 80 employees from Bridgewater, New Jersey, took part in a “Week of Volunteering” outreach project this past spring to benefit six local community agencies, demonstrating Henkel’s support for sustainability initiatives.
Volunteering activities included preparing and delivering brown bag lunches for SHIP (the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program) clients; preparing and delivering floral arrangements to residents of the NJ Eastern Home, a non-profit nursing center in Bridgewater; completing indoor and outdoor projects at the Arc of New Jersey, an organization that advocates on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities; performing outdoor work at the Anderson House, a halfway house serving women recovering from alcoholism, drug addiction and health disorders in Flemington; and cleaning the facility and playing with animals at the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter. Additional activities to benefit the Somerset County YMCA included creating patriotic wreaths with seniors for local veterans and assisting with child day care activities.
