Laptop donation to children in rural Thailand
Henkel employees from the Beauty Care plant in Yamahatsu, Thailand, visited the Ban Kaeng Chet Khwae School in the northern border district of Wat Bao to donate laptops and raise awareness of sustainability and key social issues among school children.
The school is located in a remote area of the country where the majority of the population lives below the poverty line. As a result, many of the children do not have access to computers or technology. The Henkel team donated 10 computers, and spent the day interacting with the children to explain how important it is to stay away from vices and violence so that schools are safe for everyone. Henkel employees also shared information on sustainable practices with the children.
“Corporate citizenship has always been an integral part of Henkel’s culture, and we believe in contributing to the well-being of the communities in the locations where we operate our businesses,” says Ben van den Hende, Corporate Vice President Supply Chain Beauty Care at Henkel Asia Pacific. “Our wish is that the laptop donation will help connect the children to the outside world, while the knowledge on social issues that we have shared with them will guide them towards living fulfilling lives.”
