Schwarzkopf Professional trains young hairdressers in Croatia
Shaping Futures, the hairdresser-training humanitarian project organized by Schwarzkopf Professional and Henkel, aims to educate young hairdressers in Croatia, equipping them with additional knowledge and skills to help make it easier for them to find a job after high school. The successful program is in its second consecutive year in Zagreb, Croatia.
Last month, Schwarzkopf's ASK Academy ended a two-week training for 20 students from secondary vocational schools in Croatia. The young hairdressers showed off their newly-honed skills to an audience of renowned hairdressers and potential future employers. Students received diplomas after completing the presentations.
The project was sponsored by the Croatian Commission for UNESCO, which is part of the Croatian Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Social Policy and Youth of the Republic of Croatia. Partner hairdressers also supported the project, and Croatian actress Mila Elegovic hosted the diploma-granting Shaping Futures ceremony.
Shaping Futures is a worldwide social initiative by Schwarzkopf Professional, which began operating in collaboration with non-profit organizations in 2010. The main objective of the project is to give young people in disadvanted circumstances the opportunity to study hairdressing and have a chance at a better future.
First launched in Zagreb in 2014, the Shaping Futures project expanded to additional cities in Croatia in 2015. The trainings take place over a two-week period under the guidance of Henkel Partner Professional Support Manager for Schwarzkopf Professional, Marina Ivankovic. In addition to providing training and contacts for easier employment, the project aims to promote the hairdressing profession, unity of young people, and an endless love of learning.
The quote by Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful tool which you can use to change the world," is the project’s slogan. The Schwarzkopf Professional team takes pride in helping create a better future for a new generation of young hairdressers.
