Henkel awarded for successful sustainability strategy
Henkel was ranked number 1 in the Household & Personal Products category by Oekom Research as the rating agency published an interim update after adjusting its criteria at the end of last year. Henkel is also among companies with the best scores worldwide with a B+ mark. Oekom’s assessment of the social and environmental performance of a company as part of the Corporate Rating is carried out using over 100 social and environmental criteria, selected specifically for each industry.
Henkel has also been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe and the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Global since March 23, 2015.
The ESI indices universe is composed of companies included in the Russell Global Index that display the best performance in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility.
These accomplishments recognize Henkel’s continued efforts to achieve more with less, the concept at the center of the company’s sustainability strategy. Henkel set to improve the relationship between the value it creates and its environmental footprint by 30 percent for the five years from 2011 to 2015. By the end of 2014, it had achieved significant progress, with improvements of 20 percent in energy efficiency, 19 percent in water use, 18 percent in waste volume and 25 percent in occupational safety. Henkel aims to improve its performance again in 2015 and is working on defining new targets for 2020.
Henkel’s long-term goal for 2030 is to triple the value it creates for the footprint made by its operations, products and services.
