Henkel a “Star” employer for interns and graduates
Competition for today’s top talent is fierce among businesses, and junior employees place high demands on their future employers. Companies with excellent internship programs and a strong online presence score high with job seekers. In 2014, Henkel did very well in both areas: the company earned top-ratings in the Intern Satisfaction Report of HR-management consultancy CLEVIS and in an international study of digital HR-communication channels undertaken by international market research company Potentialpark.
In this year’s CLEVIS Intern Satisfaction Report – Germany’s most extensive survey of employer quality and brand reputation for interns – Henkel received a “Star” designation, placing it solidly among the top 30 companies. The results represent the evaluations of 7,500 interns of 1,200 employers. Perceptions of employer quality were assessed both by current interns and interns at other companies in order to distinguish personal experiences from external perceptions of a company. Responsibility from the very beginning
“Feedback from our interns is very important to us, which means we’re especially happy to have received this distinction,” said Dr. Lena Christiaans, Head of Employer Branding at Henkel. Each year, just under 1,000 students complete an internship at Henkel. Interns work independently on projects and are linked with a personal mentor who guides them. The best students are nominated for Henkel’s “Career Track” intern retention program, which Henkel uses to recruit many of its future employees. The company also stays in touch with its former interns by offering interesting events like seminars, workshops, or factory tours.
Digital media channels are becoming very important for getting in touch with young talent. In a study by market research company Potentialpark, Henkel earned top scores for its online talent communication, achieving a very good eighth place out of 160 employers in Germany. In the study, 3,700 career websites, online application systems, and social media channels were evaluated, and 1,200 students and graduates in Germany were asked about their expectations during their job search.
