When Henkel Indonesia turned 40 this year, the employees celebrated by giving back to the community. A blood donation and activities at an orphanage were on the birthday agenda – all made possible by dedicated employees.
Henkel Indonesia employees have always been strong advocates of giving back to the community, and have been involved in several social projects over the past years. However, this year was special: For Henkel’s 40th anniversary in Indonesia employees planned a series of exceptional activities.
Employees from Jakarta gathered to donate blood for ‘World Blood Donor Day’. The country’s blood banks need 4.8 million units of blood bags a year, and only 2.5 million have been donated so far this year. To improve this situation, Henkel Indonesia organized a blood donation event in cooperation with Red Cross Indonesia. Of the 80 eligible benefactors, 69% were first time donors, who were encouraged and educated on the topic – an impressive outcome.
Furthermore, the Indonesian team visited the Mizan Amanah orphanage to take part in a unique holiday: the end of fasting for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The team surprised the children with a magic show, a special care package for each child, and then had a great feast ending the fasting month. Each care package consisted of a book, a school bag, and a stationery kit – the kids were filled with joy after receiving it.
As a company with 40 years of heritage in Indonesia, Henkel is committed to improve the well-being of the local communities,” said Nancy Rhee, Operational Controller for Adhesive Technologies in Indonesia.
